Erythromycin resistance in Group A Beta-hemolytic streptococci

چکیده
Aim: Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A Beta-hemolytic streptococci, GABHS) is one of the important bacterial pathogens in clinical microbiology. It often causes upper respiratory tract infections such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and laryngitis. also leads to complications acute rheumatic fever post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis. Early diagnosis treatment these will prevent suppurative non-suppurative complications, transmission infection other people, chronic carriage. Today, streptococcal relies entirely on chemotherapy. Beta hemolytic group streptococci generally beta-hemolytic groups B (GBBHS), C, G are sensitive many chemotherapeutics, especially Penicillin Erythromycin. In patients with penicillin allergy, erythromycin, amoxicillin-clavulanate, or oral cephalosporins used instead penicillin. However, it has recently been understood that there strains resistant Erythromycin GABHS increasing. this study, situation our region resistance, which an alternative for people allergic infections, was investigated.
Material Method: throat swab samples were taken from 150 pharyngitis 94 obtained by applying Bacitracin-SXT test culture method, antibiotic susceptibility tests performed Kirby-Bauer agar disc diffusion method.
Result: found susceptible Bacitracin SXT. GBBHS SXT.
Conclusion: Erythromycin’s resistance be 19.1%. observed increased over years when compared previous studies. should not empirically treatment. An selected according results antibiogram test.

متن کاملGroup B beta-hemolytic streptococci causing pharyngitis.
Group B beta-hemolytic streptococci were isolated from the throats of 49 of 1,110 patients who had pharyngitis. Compared with patients whose throat cultures were negative for beta-hemolytic streptococci, those harboring group B were more likely to have enlarged tonsils (P less than 0.001), exudate (P less than 0.02), and tender enlarged anterior cervical lymph nodes (P less than 0.01). Group B ...
متن کاملGroup-A beta-hemolytic streptococci resistance pattern in north Indian pediatric population.
Sir, The interesting article by Jain et al. describes the resistance pattern of GABHS (group-A beta-hemolytic streptococci) in northern India.[1] The article may be of immense interest to all clinicians. The authors mention in the abstract section that the current resistance pattern of GABHS has not been discussed in India, which is incorrect. A thorough search of literature reveals that Lloyd ...
متن کاملTyping Group a Hemolytic Streptococci
Two methods of typing group A hemolytic streptococci have been described: slide agglutination and anti-M precipitin tests. The first, developed by Griffith (1), is more extensively used. I t has the distinct advantages of requiring small amounts of serum and culture, and of a quick reaction time when all conditions are favorable. I t has certain disadvantages: The granular growth of some strain...
متن کاملArtificial elimination of drug resistance from group A beta-hemolytic streptococci.
Ten strains of beta-hemolytic streptococci were tested for elimination of resistance to macrolide antibiotics, tetracycline, and chloramphenicol. Six of the strains lost resistance after cultivation at 41 C or addition of acriflavine (0.2 mug/ml). These results suggest that determinants governing resistance to these antibiotics are located on extrachromosomal genetic elements (plasmids) that ar...
